Text Messaging Has Addictive Tendencies
Text messaging has addictive tendencies that were reported in a survey by Nokia and was confirmed to be addictive by the study in Belgium in 2004. Since then the study at the Queensland University of Australia has found that text messaging is the most addictive digital service on mobile or internet, and is equivalent in addictiveness to cigarette smoking. It is this additiction that has caused many to call the popular service from Blackberry, Crackberry. Sure it's great for the company and it can be a useful service, but what about all the poor addicts?
Intexticated Addicts and Withdrawal
What would happen if they were suddenly without this electronic drug? Would they become violent? Would they rob, steal, or drain the bank accounts of family and friends to find a replacement? Could they ever return to just using regular email after they have experienced the gratification of IM and texting? It's hard to say what the answers are to these questions, but we can only hope the goverenment steps in soon with some kind of controls on this problem.
